Sony Xperia Z1

SONY XPERIA Z1 REVIEW

LAUNCHED AT IFA 2013 in Berlin just last week, the Sony Xperia Z1 is arguably the firm's most impressively specified smartphone to date. The Xperia Z1 is flat on both its front and back, but it's in the middle of this smartphone sandwich that Sony has made the its most prominent design tweak to differ from the earlier Z model. The edging now has a very slight curve, which Sony said was to make it nicer to hold. The previous device was a little sharp on the corners and this new model refines that. The Sony Xperia Z1 is also water-resistant, which is why there are flaps to cover the various ports and sockets. A step in Sony's Z series of devices, the Xperia Z1 seems like a flagship model and holds the top position in the Android market in several aspects. The design of the Xperia Z1 is unsurprisingly similar to that of the Xperia Z. The simplicity of design of both devices is likeable and the Xperia Z1's aluminium frame that doubles as an antenna has curved edges and makes the device feel a lot more sturdy and robost than the predecessor. The Sony Xperia Z1 is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 processor clocked to 2.2Ghz with 2GB of RAM awailable for multi-tasking and Adreno 330 graphics. The Xperia Z1 runs Android Jelly Bean version 4.2.2 with Sony's cosmetic changes over it. The Xperia Z1 has a 5-inch TFT display with a resolution of 1980x1090 pixels. The TFT display of the Sony Xperia Z1, like that of the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, will be a TRILUMINOS one and have X-Reality for mobile.  The Xperia Z1 will have a battery capacity of 3000mAh to support the powerful processor it runs on. The Sony handset will also be waterproof and dustproof like most of the recent flagship Xperia smartphones. The camera of the Sony Xperia Z1 is one of the best and fastest in the market as it comes with a 20.7-megapixel sensor along with Sony's G Lens with f2.0 aperture and a 27mm wide angle, and a 'BIONZ for mobile' image processing engine. With these specifications what the camera of the Sony Xperia Z1 does is it produces brilliant photos and makes for a fast camera which is something unlike what is usually seen in any smartphone. The Sony Xperia Z1 is also the first smartphone that is capable of shooting videos in Ultra HD. For storage, the Xperia Z1 has 16GB of onboard memory that, as is the norm, expandable by microSD. The Sony Xperia Z1 has a new camera software which allows for loading of new apps directly in the camera without having to switch between apps and this will let the users do cool things with the phone like taking photos in burst-mode or live-stream video to their Facebook page. Sony is in works with developers to bring more apps to the Xperia Z1. Connectivity-wise, the Xperia Z1 will feature the normal connectivity modes including Wi-Fi, 2G, 3G and Bluetooth.
