Apple's IOS Defeats Android in Battle of Christmas Day Shopping

Here’s one category where Android is still no match for Apple Inc. (AAPL): mobile shopping.

On Christmas day, Apple’s iOS devices were used to make 23 percent of all e-commerce orders, according to a report yesterday from International Business Machines Corp. Phones and tablets running Google Inc. (GOOG)’s Android, meanwhile, only accounted for 4.6 percent. IOS customers also spent $93.94 per order, almost twice the amount of the average Android shopper.

Mobile devices in general have emerged as a more common way to buy things online, gaining ground on personal computers. They were used for almost 29 percent of Internet sales, up 40 percent from 2012, IBM found. Smartphones were more popular for browsing, while consumers spent more money when using tablets.

Apple’s iPhone and iPad have maintained their edge as shopping tools, even as Android products sell in far greater numbers. Android, which is used by Samsung Electronics Co. and other top manufacturers, accounted for 81 percent of smartphone shipments last quarter, according to IDC. Apple had 13 percent of the market.

Pinterest Inc. and Facebook Inc. also helped drive online shopping on Christmas, IBM found. Customers referred to sales through Pinterest, an Internet-scrapbooking startup, spent almost $87 per order, while those referred through Facebook spent $72. Still, customers that came from Facebook were four times more likely to make a purchase than the Pinterest users, possibly because they trust their Facebook friends more, according to the report.

Smartphones Night Vision

Smartphones Night vision Pic

SMARTPHONES NIGHT VISION REVIEW

Snooperscope give your mobile device the ability to see & capture the world in complete darkness while revealing items not visible to your naked eye.

Snooperscope is a special wireless invention that, by using your mobile device as a screen and the infrared light as a source, enables you to see in low light conditions and in total darkness. Plus, under visible light, it reveals hidden things that normally cannot be seen by the human eye.

Snooperscope Night Vision Pic

Use With Your Standard Or Favorite Camera App. View It, Capture It, Share It With Your Team Or Friends, It’s That Easy!

Taking pictures under low light can be quite tricky, most especially if your phone doesn’t support LED flash and digital optical zoom. Pictures taken during the day are of great quality with vibrant colors  and amazing details caught on camera. On the other hand, pictures taken at night are exactly the opposite. Dark rooms where there is absence of natural light spoil the rewards of having quality moments with friends and family.

Most high-end phones are already equipped with the best cameras, but some mid-range and low-end smartphones aren’t as lucky. Devices with above-average cameras can take advantage of camera apps from the Android Market that can help fine-tune their devices’ basic picture-taking capabilities.

If you’re a trigger happy photo enthusiast always using your smartphone as a point-and-shoot camera, then we’ve got good news for you. An Android application called Night Vision Camera can greatly enhance picture-taking in the dark. Even if you don’t have LED flash support on your device, you can still take wonderful shots with superb clarity by using Night Vision Camera.

Normal Mode Pic          Night Vision Mode Pic

From the name itself, the Night Vision Camera app uses your device’s camera and turns it into a night vision goggles with the use of a green filter to enhance picture quality. The clever algorithm integrated into the app will boost image brightness and provide great details to the shots you capture. Depending on personal preferences or requirements, users have the option to turn on or off the green filter effect.

Once the application is already running, you might notice that your camera runs more slowly.  This is expected. Just hold the camera as steadily as possible and wait for the perfect time to nail down that perfect frame. Additionally, pressing the << button on the camera application opens tons of interesting features.

Since the application uses your phone’s camera to take pictures with, don’t expect to see great results, as the pictures you take varies from one device to another. If you’re lucky enough to have a high-end device such as a Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, Galaxy S2, or HTC Evo 3D, then you don’t need to worry, as these devices are already equipped with the best cameras to date. The Night Vision Camera app works at its finest when you have a high-end phone sporting a top-notch camera.

More Smartphones Devices Pic

The app can also become a handy flashlight, as it uses your phone’s LED flash as light source giving you complete control by keeping it turned-on as the need arises. Speaking of flash, users also have full control in configuring the camera’s flash to enable maximum visibility. It also supports front-facing cameras for those awkward moments when someone calls you in the middle of the night or while you are in a dark area.

LED flash as light Pic

You can download the Night Vision Camera app for free from the Android Market and start snapping photos even in dark areas.

Phone cameras have a mortal enemy: darkness. Selfie may be the word of the year, but there isn’t a phone on the market that can take a good one in the dark. That problem may be no more with Snooperscope, an iOS and Android compatible night vision attachment.

Launching a crowdsource funding campaign starting tomorrow on HWTrek.com, Psy Corporation is aiming to raise $60,000 to help bring the Snooperscope to fruition. Does the company have any relation to Korean music sensation and temporary YouTube star Psy? Probably not, but we’re going to pretend it does. Regardless of his attachment to the project, if you were to ever hear someone humming “Gangnam Style” late at night, you could attach the Snooperscope to your mobile device of choice and quickly identify Psy searching through your trash to see if he left his cultural relevance there.

The Snooperscope connects to your phone via a secure peer-to-peer Wi-Fi connection and uses the screen to provide you with a look into the darkness draped world that your eyes could otherwise not see. It’s ideal for use on overnight camping trips, wildlife adventurers, checking on things that go bump in the night, or creeps who want to watch people at night time. Or just point it at yourself and snap infrared selfies, no filter necessary. In all reality, it’s probably a pretty cool piece of technology, we’re just sure there’s plenty of people who have strange intentions for it.

Micromax has been extremely successful in India and is all set to overtake Samsung as the No 1 smartphone manufacturer in India.
Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma unveiled his plans about overseas markets.
He said
Our end goal is to go global as an Indian hardware brand. I do not want to be seen as an Indian company anymore. We have tested waters in markets such as Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and we are among the top three phone brands in both the markets.
We are launching in Russia in December and if I am able to crack Russia, we will also able to capture the whole (of) Europe. We have a couple of products especially for that market, and Google doesn’t work there so we have tied up with Yandex on the application level.
Rahul Sharma also said that they are looking to acquire a software company. He said
The next war will be in software and not hardware. Some massive thing will happen from our side on software. We are already in a lookout for software companies and as and when we find one that fits with the organization, we will do it.
