The company has already put up a plant in Rudrapur and has started the assembling of phones on a trial basis. The large scale production will be commencing in the first quarter of 2014.
The plant provides employment to about 400 people.
The company also has plans to enter into Russian and eastern European markets next year starting with Russia. The devices assembled at the Rudrapur will also be exported to these markets.
Co founder of Micromax, Rahul Sharma said
We closed last year at about Rs 3,168 crore and we are looking to double that this financial year. We are on track to be a billion dollar company by FY (financial year) 2014Micromax is riding high on its smartphone success and is engulfing the market share of the competitors.
The company is also expected to overtake Samsung as the largest smartphone player in India in Q4 2013.
The company also plans to unveil 20 new devices in next six months.
