Nokia Lumia 920 better than iPhone 5

We all know it is the same old story with iPhone 5, breaking records in sales again...topping two million pre-orders in the first 24 hours.
However, there is a growing belief that the Nokia Lumia 920, which runs the Windows Phone 8 is a much better smartphone.

Here are some of the features that the Nokia Lumia 920 wins in comparison to the iPhone 5.

1) Screen

The screen size of the Nokia Lumia 920 is bigger and sharper than the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5 has a 4-inch Retina display with a resolution of 1136x640-pixels while the Lumia 920 has a 4.5-inch Huge PureMotion HD+ WXGA IPS LCD, ClearBlack display. It also has a resolution of 1280x768 pixels, which is higher than the iPhone 5.

2) Camera

The Nokia Lumia sports an 8.7 megapixel rear PureView camera with optical image stabilisation and Carl Zeiss optics. It is better than iPhone 5's 8-megapixel camera...which is one of Apple's strong point.

However, there is no mention of noise reduction, low-light performance and fast photo taking in the Nokia Lumia 920 like the Apple's iPhone 5. Also, the 920's front-facing camera offers 1.2 megapixel front camera compared with the iPhone 5's 720 pixels.

3) Map

Even though Apple introduce their own Apple Inc's home grown Maps feature, it was not as good as the Nokia Map. With Nokia City Lens Augment reality, users can discover all the city has to offer by looking at the camera's viewfinder. It lets you find local businesses simply by pointing your phone in the right direction, a feature not available on the new iPhone.

Apple Inc's home-grown Maps feature is already facing criticism from users globally for a number of geographical errors, missing information and because it lacks features that made Google Maps so popular, including public transit directions, comprehensive traffic data or street view pictures. The new program has no public transit directions, limited traffic information, and flat-out mistakes, such as putting one city in the middle of the ocean.

4) Design

Let's put it this way...we are bored of the iPhone 5...even though Apple might emphasize on the elegance of the design of the Apple's baby, it is still the same iPhone...it could be thinner with a smaller port but the design is nothing in comparison to the beautiful Nokia Lumia 920. The Nokia Lumia 920 offers unique Live Tiles customisation, unlike the iPhone 5 on which icons are displayed in a single way, which can not be changed according to personal interests. Besides that, the Lumia 920 comes in the black, white, grey, red and yellow colours. On the other hand, the iPhone comes in white and silver, and black and slate colours.

5) User Interface, UI

We all know that the Apple's touchscreen has always been very sensitive but apparently, the Lumia 920's super sensitive touchscreen can be used not only with your fingertips, but also with finger nails, gloves and even any kind of pens.

Well, apparently, there are still more things that Nokia is better than the iPhone 5....

The charging of the Nokia Lumia 920 is one of the amazing breakthrough in comparison to the iPhone 5. With built-in wireless charging, it can be charged without being plugged in...the users just place it on a wireless charging pod, while Apple's iPhone 5 features ordinary charging.

[News] The latest x86 Smartphone Revealed - Motor RAZR-i

It's been quite some time since Intel wanting to venture into the world of smartphone where billions of dollars are said to be make every year. The latest push to the smartphone space continue with the alliance with Motorola, after Motorola Xolo X900 and Lenovo K800, both which launched outside of the US. So, here is the latest news on the x86 smartphone party - news from Forbes.

Intel‘s push into the smartphone and mobile space continued – and Motorola’s commitment to make fewer, better phones was given a live-fire exercise – with the launch of the Motorola RAZR i in London Tuesday.

The expectation has been for some time that Moto would be producing an Intel-powered smartphone, of course, and there was considerable expectation, supported by the preponderance of the word “edge” in Motorola communications, that this would also feature a new “edge-to-edge”, bezel-less display technology. Essentially, an Intel-driven take on the RAZR m.

Introduced by Andrew Morley, General Manager of Motorola UK and Ireland, the i was talked through by Jim Wicks, SVP of Mobile Experience Design, of Motorola and Eric Reid, GM of Mobile Platforms at Intel – a serious line-up. I sat down with Reed and Hicks after the launch and asked a few questions relating to the new device. More details to come, but the key points are:

  • The phone, described as the first 2GHz Intel smartphone, is running the next iteration of the Atom “Medfield” Z2460 processor we have seen clocked at 1.6 GHz in the first Intel-driven smartphones and should have the same impressive power-saving and battery management features. These are single-core processors, but have Intel’s patent Hyperthreading technology, to manage multiple tasks on one core. The graphics chip is, unsurprisingly, based on Imagination’s PowerVR architecture.
  • “Security” was mentioned but not developed on toa significant degree – but this suggests that Intel’s known-quantity status in the enterprise is seen as an expansion opportunity. Everyone likes security, of course, but enterprise loves it. This feels like a messaging “nub” at present, to be expanded upon.
  • The 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen is squeezed into a form factor about the size of the iPhone 5, the screen of which, famously, has a 4-inch diagonal. This was done by “exposing the engine” – there are visible tension screws on the side of the phone to hold the LCD in place. The frame is very thin, and supplemented by Motorola’s familiar kevlar, with Corning Gorilla Glass on the screen and “aircraft-grade” aluminium (for which read light, thin and strong).
The phone will be available in October, with the first launches in early October, in Latin America and Europe. Both declined to comment on plans for an Intel-driven device launch in the US.
  • It will ship with Ice Cream Sandwich, but will be getting a “competitively-scheduled” update to Jelly Bean (since Jelly Bean is already available on phones – and indeed the HP TouchPad, after a fashion – competitive should at least mean “sharpish”.
  • This should be easier, of course, because Motorola has walked back from its proprietary MOTOBLUR user interface, and was doing so even before its acqusition by Google. Android’s UI will be supplemented by some nice-looking “circles” on the home page, intended to make single-pane operation convenient for those who do not want a series of pages: the phone will have a single screen out of the box, with a swipe to a settings page.
  • Much was made of the 8MP camera, and its ability to take ten photos in less than a second. The point here is a good one – that much of what we think of as mechanical in photography is about processor speed and software optimization.
  • The device is envisaged as a “mid to high tier” offering – again, my question on suggested retail prices was made with little expectation of a straight answer, but a reasonable surmise might be that it will be priced somewhere beneath the iPhone 5, and target the persuadable higher-end customer.

Motorola and Intel both have points to make here – Intel with its first launch putting its chips into a higher-end handset by a higher-end western brand (no offense to Lava, ZTE or Lenovo, but they do not have the brand weight in the west of Motorola in the smartphone space). Motorola is not generally front-of-mind in markets outside the US, and after some low-key launches of solid phones is perhaps aiming to rectify that. Post-acquisition, and after contributing $1.25 billion to Google’s Q2 revenues, many both inside and outside Motorola are eager to show or be shown that the company is more than the sum of its patents.

iPhone 5

The announcement of the Apple's iPhone 5 has come as expected...

For those of you who have yet to follow the news, here are some of the features of the iPhone 5:

Taller, thinner and metal black

The new iPhone is 18 percent thinner (0.30 inch vs. 0.37 inch thick) than the iPhone 4S. Apple says it's the thinnest handset around, but that's a race that changes often. That means it's also 20 percent lighter for a total of 3.95 ounces.

The Retina Display expands from 3.5 inches (its size since the original iPhone) to 4 inches. The total resolution remains the same, though, at 326 pixels per inch. The total pixel count is 1,136x640, and we now have a 16:9 aspect ratio.

For those of you who have always wanted to have more row of icons in the home screen, you just got your wishes come true, without having to jailbreak...a fifth row of icons on the home screen. That's pretty nice since it will let you cut down on the number of home screens. You'll also get a full five-day week view in the calendar, the calendar will show more events, and all iWork apps will take advantage of the bigger display. Third-party apps that haven't been updated will continue to work, but you'll see black borders on each side (so they won't be stretched or scaled). Apple also promises that wide-screen movies will look better, with 44 percent more color saturation than on the iPhone 4S.

iSight Camera

The camera stays at 8 megapixels (with the best resolution being 3,264x2,448 pixels) with a feature list that includes backside illumination, a hybrid IR filter, a five-element lens, and a f2.4 aperture.
A dynamic light mode is new, and you should be able to launch photography apps up to 2.1 times faster. Another addition is an image signal processor in the A6 chip. That will bring spatial noise reduction and a "smart filter" that produces better low-light performance and captures photos faster.

Finally, there's a built-in panorama mode that stitches shots together for one large 28-megapixel photo.

The secondary front camera now can shoot 720p HD video and it gets a backside illuminated sensor. FaceTime can also be done via cellular network...no more waiting for wifi to have video call with your loved ones...

Smaller dock connector, smaller sim card

On the bottom of the iPhone 5, there's that new and long-anticipated smaller dock connector. Called "Lightning," it has an all-digital, eight-signal design and an "adaptive interface" (we're not quite sure what that means yet). It's 80 percent smaller, and since it's reversible, both ends will be the same (that's kind of nice). In a way, it is bad news for those with a lot of accessories that have the old bigger dock connector.
The new connector cable will mainly be used for syncing and charging by most people who own an Apple TV or Bluetooth/AirPlay accessories.

iOS 6

Inside, the iPhone 5 will debut with iOS 6 already onboard. Highlights include the new Apple Maps app, Passbook, shared photo streams, Siri updates, and the aforementioned FaceTime over 3G. Siri could be used to make bookings in restaurants as well in the iPhone 5...something more useful and practical.

I have read review of both Funbook Alpha and Pro. There they stated internet through dongle works fine in Alpha but not in Pro. So I think Micromax has worked for internet connectivity in Funbook Alpha. Both the tablet have poor battery life upto 1.30 hr. Every Funbook users faced the same problem in battery backup. The battery drains faster while playing game and browsing internet. “It takes much time to charge Funbook Pro tablet” reviewed by one user. Still there is no complaint in battery charging time consumption in Funbook Alpha.

iPhone 5, it's almost here

It might be difficult to believe but with Windows Phone 8 getting announcement and launching ahead of the Apple's iPhone 5, all eyes will be on the iPhone now...this will be something special given that it was supposedly to be a work unfinished by the legendary Steve Jobs. Many will wonder just how well will Apple cope without its' biggest fan, Steve Jobs.

But wait no more, as Apple has sent invites for an event on the 12th September, and given the shadow reflected, the name will definitely be "iPhone 5" instead of following the iPad line up, with a change of name.

Rumours said that the coming iPhone will be 30% thinner than the current one and it will be interesting to see how it is being done.

Apparently, the iPhone will be slightly taller as well though Apple is not making the iPhone wider suggests a degree of confidence in the form factor. Larger devices, such as Samsung's Galaxy S3, can feel too wide for some users.

Well, there are a lot of rumours out there on the iPhone 5 but the wait is no longer necessary...as Apple puts it: it's almost here.

Nokia Windows Phone 8 launched

Well, as expected, the Nokian Windows Phone 8 was launched. The refreshed Lumia "line up" has already been predicted to be launched.

From the launch, we have come to know about a few things regarding the new Windows Phone beast...

Some of the highlights for the Lumia 920 specifications are:
- Qualcomm (QCOM) Dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 CPU
- HD 1,280 x 768 LCD display
- 8 megapixel PureView sensor
- NFC (Near Field Communication)
- 2,000mAh battery
- Wireless charging
- Redmond-baked operating system

In an exclusive interview with Nokia’s CEO Stephen Elop on Engadget, Elop mentioned that the current Windows Phone 7 will continue to be sold in other markets, its patent portfolio will continue to be monetized, and stressed on differentiation of its devices as an important part of its turnaround strategy. Elop highlighted the power of its camera and compared superior performance of low-light photography on the Lumia to the Samsung Galaxy III.
It’s too early to know if Nokia’s differentiation strategy will be effective in competing against Apple (AAPL) and Samsung. Still, that Lumia has a sensor that can capture “between five and ten times the light” of any other smartphone gives Nokia an opportunity to deliver a strong marketing message to consumers. First Windows Phone 8 by Samsung

After the court ruling against Samsung in the dispute against Apple, Samsung was quick enough to show off the first Windows Phone 8....it must have been the realization that Google's Android might not be sufficient....

In making this announcement, Samsung is beating even Nokia, Microsoft’s official partner for making Windows phones, in unveiling the first Windows Phone 8 device.

The new phone, dubbed the Ativ S, has a 4.8-inch touch screen. It includes support for near-field communication, a technology for wirelessly exchanging information, which can be used for swapping files between phones. NFC capability is one of the key new features introduced by Windows Phone 8.

Samsung in the past has been quiet about its support for Windows Phone, but perhaps now it will be more enthusiastic about working with Microsoft in the aftermath of its patent battle with Apple, in which Samsung was found guilty of infringing a series of Apple patents. That could make it more difficult to sell phones using Google’s Android operating system.

Along with the Ativ S, Samsung also introduced two computers and a tablet with the Ativ branding, all running Microsoft’s Windows 8 software. Samsung said Ativ is “vita,” the Latin word for “life,” spelled backwards. These products are “a pledge by Samsung to make everyone’s life easier,” the company said in a press statement. Selling phones with Windows Phone 8 could make Samsung’s life easier as well.

Samsung did not disclose pricing or release dates for the Ativ products.

Firefox OS tablet will be available in future

Firefox OS for mobile
Firefox OS tablet: Recently I heard about Firefox OS or Geek to Boot OS will be available soon and is developed for mobile phones. Now the most familiar OS were Android, iOS, Blackberry OS and Windows. But all this OS were bored and have same feature in all OS and the disadvantage of all the OS I mentioned were costly. Firefox OS developing is on progress. They assure this OS will cost less that is around Rs.5000. So soon you can get smart phones for Rs.5000. It cost less because it is programmed with HTML 5.

So this Firefox OS for mobile phones were confirmed. I predict soon there will be Firefox tablet. First Firefox mobile phone will be launched on 2013. So in 2013 they will surely start Firefox OS tablet PC in future. If so then I will update all the Mozilla Firefox OS tablet PC in this post. Stay tuned.
