Nokia 5310 XpressMusic

NOKIA 5310 XpressMusic REVIEW

The Nokia 5310 XpressMusic is an adorable and affordable choice for T-Mobile users looking to chat, groove, and message. This is primarily a music phone, and it's equipped with a full function music player and FM radio. The music player has support for playlists, album art and an equaliser. You can listen to your music using the built-in loudspeaker, or preferably using the stereo headset supplied or a Bluetooth wireless headset (optional extra). The 5310 also includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, so you can plug in any standard fit headphones - a definite bonus. The 5310 has a new upgraded audio chip, and the audio quality is impeccable. Really, the music player is just as easy to use as one of Sony Ericsson's Walkman phones, or even a dedicated MP3 player. We like the fact that there's a decent amount of memory built in (30 Mbytes), but you'll definitely want to kit the phone out with a memory card: the 5310 supports microSD cards up to 4 Gbytes, which is enough for around 1,000 songs. MicroSD cards are really cheap these days, so really there's no reason not to go for the maximum size available. The Nokia 5310 COmes WIth Music version has a 2 GB card supplied in the sales package. The candy-bar-style 5310 is mostly gunmetal gray, but there's a splash of bright color along the sides of the screen. (Our test handset had red accents, but you can opt for orange or purple.) Unusually slim for a Nokia model, at 4.1 by 1.8 by .4 inches (HWD), it feels solid yet weighs only 3 ounces. The front of the phone is dominated by a good-looking, bright, 2-inch, 320-by-240-pixel display. To the left of the screen are music controls; below it are the number buttons, whose convex design feels good beneath the fingertips. From 16th October 2008, the 5310 is available with the ground-breaking Nokia Comes With Music service. This service is exclusive to the Carphone Warehouse. We're not usually impressed with these kinds of add-on services, but this one is actually quite incredible. When you buy a Nokia "Comes With Music" phone, you get a whole year of free unlimited music downloads! Whatever you download during the year you can keep forever. Now if you are just a modest music buyer you can save quite a lot of money with this. If you're a heavy buyer, or if you'd like to be a heavy but didn't think you could afford to, then this is unbelievably good value! You can even transfer the music to a registered PC as well as your phone. Initially this service will be available only on the 5310 XpressMusic and the N95 8GB Comes With Music Edition. The Comes With Music edition phones are available in a choice of 7 different colours that differentiate the phone from the normal 5310.
