HTC DROID Incredible 4G LTE

HTC DROID INCREDIBLE 4G LTE REVIEW

Verizon and HTC announced the DROID Incredible 4G LTE smartphone in early May 2012, although a release date was never revealed. According to an image obtained by Droid-Life, however, the handset is slated to launch on July 5th, nearly two months after being announced. The device will be one of the first smartphones to be available to customers who are interested in Verizon’s new Share Everything Plan. Let’s be real here: the screen is not going to work for everyone. It wasn’t that long ago that a 4-inch display would’ve gotten us phone geeks all hot and bothered, but those days have passed and the Incredible’s screen is left looking a little puny compared the flashy big guys on the market. Say what you will about its size, but the Incredible 4G’s 4-inch Super LCD display is a very pleasant addition to the package. Colors were bright and well-reproduced, viewing angles were excellent, and visibility in sunlight was solid (though you’ll have to be mindful about cranking up the brightness). A qHD display (that’s a 960x540 screen resolution) that almost matches the iPhone’s for pixel density. Anyone making the jump from a dumbphone, or interested in switching from iOS but has reservations about getting a giant handset like today’s top models, will really appreciate the smaller size and high power offered by the Droid Incredible 4G LTE. The back of the phone itself is molded plastic with a texture on it that makes it easy to grip, and you can easily see the rear speaker on the upper right, with the red-ringed camera and flash on the upper left. It's also relatively logo free, with a muted 4G LTE logo at top right, the red Beats logo at lower right.  Great camera Even though HTC wasn’t able to squeeze in the same image chip featured in the One series, mobile photogs will still have the opportunity to toy with its amazing ImageSense software. Photos look bright and vivid, plus the shutter speeds and auto focus are on the money. The same shooting modes (Panorama, HDR) and filters are present, making it a dream for those addicted to Instagram. Like other Android 4.0 handsets, the video recording software now enables you to do more like snap stills like recording; and the audio quality is second to none. Don’t let its looks fool you the Incredible 4G may be small, but it packs some considerable power under the hood thanks to its 1.2GHz Snapdragon S4 chipset (the Adreno 220 GPU doesn’t hurt either). From a purely anecdotal standpoint, I didn’t see a single hiccup as I swiped though the Incredible 4G’s menus and scrolled through long lists of links on a handful of websites. Similarly, the Incredible handled my usual test suite of HD videos and games with aplomb this little guy has plenty of oomph. Voice calling is one of the Incredible 4G LTE’s strongest points. The phone picks up vocals really well and pairs great with a Bluetooth headset. Even the speakerphone manages to deliver good sound and take advantage of the handset's solid noise cancellation technology. Call quality was also on-point thanks to the strong signal reception in the Tri-State area. No dropped calls here. If you’re the type who just likes to sit around and fiddle with your phone all day, your results will obviously be a little different. In our typical stress test in which display brightness is set to 50% and the device is set to repeat a series of Google Image Searches — the Incredible 4G lasted five hours and 12 minutes. The Droid Incredible 4G LTE is a remarkably solid performer as a phone. While it doesn't quite approach landline quality, it's easily one of the better experiences we've had with a mobile device in quite some time. In all cases, voices were remarkably clear -- even at low volume -- and we were able to carry on a natural conversation without straining to hear the caller or struggling to properly position the earpiece. Similarly, others commented on the clarity and depth of our voice. With respect to navigation, we're happy to say that the latest Incredible was able to detect GPS satellites nearly instantaneously.
